2:00- Snowshoe Orienteering- Newport High School- Take the challenge. Maps provided. Come out and find our points in the
Newport Town Forest. Prizes awarded, snowshoes needed.

Hope to see more participation this year. I will be teaming up with Laurie to complete the course together. Hoping to encourage other couples, indivuals and parent/child combos to join in.

Would like to see last year's winner - Ethan Willey with a few seconds win over Randy Waterman - return for another dual.

Hope to see you and your families out there........ snow is still deep in spots and darn icy in others.

Sounds like I might be there with a little helper.

PJ put on quite an event this year, thank you.

It was a lot longer than I thought it would be but it proved to be a good distance, for Team Turtle.

Great Job Team Turtle, but I think there is a little confusion as to who is the Tortoise and/or the Rabbit based on the composition of the teams.

It was fun and good to see more people participating this year.

PJ, how many went out for both courses combined?

Most importantly, Christian had a fun time, even when he was sliding uncontrollably head first down the back side of Pinnacle. I'm glad we were able to make it out. Christian has been enjoying the maple syrup. Thanks to PJ for putting it on and thanks to the Stetsons for making great maple syrup.

Good job to all who participated.

Team Turtle wasn't very fast, although I was surprised at how well Ken did pulling Christian on a sled, We just held a steady pace over an efficient route and found all of the flags very quickly with exception of the one on top of Pinnacle (good job placing that one PJ), we won't discuss the "Caves" flag.

Thought for sure we had some superior competition when we arrived at the cellar hole 3rd.

There was a grand total of 20 athletes orienteering.

We had 4 teams of 2 for the long course. one team of 2 for the short course (they showed up after you left). We had 4 kids do 3 of the flags, and 3 additional kids did all 5 (novice section). We also had another guy show up and take a map, so he could do it later, and met 3 out there walkign around on their own trying to find a few without a map.

Certainly was a great turnout........and I think it will grow.

I would like to put one on in the summer for trail running training, and kids might like it.

Thanks for coming out.

Jason apoligizes for misplacing the caves one.
