I'm planning on doing an exploration fun ride up on Pike Hill this Sunday if anyone is interested in joining me I would love some company.

Most of the trails up there are dirt roads. I'm thinking a 15+- mile ride but it is hard to say. There will be lots of elevation gain. I will be looking for a route to the very summit in that area as well as exploring some trails that connect over towards Chandler Mills Rd. If anyone knows exactly where Elephant rock is I wouldn't mind checking that out while I was up there as well.

When do you plan on starting and how long do you expect the ride to take?

I was thinking of racing the Grind, but not really sure I want to do 6hrs of driving.

Start time doesn't matter to me. I really don't know about the length of time but just as a guestimate 4 hours +- there will be a lot of climbing and I won't be going fast on the uphill but the downhills could be really fast so it's hard to tell. It could be significantly less time but I doubt it would be much more.

I don't want to be in threat of being out there after dark but other than that time doesn't matter to me.

Plan is to park over there, either in the sand pit or on Chandler Mills Rd near the covered bridges. If there is a route all the way to the high point, it would be approx a 1300 foot climb from Chandler Mills Rd or almost 3 times the elevation gain from the High School to the top of Coit.

A 3-4hr MTB ride sounds way better than 6hrs of driving.

If there are any late deciders we are meeting at 10am on Chandler Mills Rd in large parking area near the Covered Bridge closest to Claremont. This is also close to Mosquito School House Rd.

Bring bug dope if you have it the Mosquitos are in full force now!

You all don't know what you missed yesterday. Ken and I where out there for close to 3.5 hours and did 15 miles. I calculated us to have climbed over 2500 vertical feet. It was about 1,200 vertical from the lowest point to the highest. We spent over an hour avoiding deep mud holes, climbing over downed trees, and pushing through prickers only to find out two separate trails just dead ended. We rode some very long technical hard climbs, where covered from head to toe in mud by the end, had some rippin fast long downhills, and Ken broke his chain at the furthest point from the car.

It was a great day!

I was even able to practice carrying/pushing my bike up some steep climbs. I was also introduced to a few beautiful hill training climbs. Some steady climbs where you can just push to the top and some that require a little more finesse. It was a blast.
