I am planning a White Mountains ride this Friday. No set departure time yet, but guessing sometime around 9am from Newport. Ride is 80 miles with plenty of climbing, but not quite as much as the VT Gap ride. We will be hitting The Kanc, Bear Notch, Crawford Notch and part of Franconia Notch. No official support vehicle, so you will need to carry your own food and drinks. We will be stopping at local stores to refuel, so bring a little cash.

I am currently planning to join Ken.

The fueling opportunities are:

Bartlet (302 & Bear Notch Rd) at about 33 miles.

AMC Hut at top of Crawford Notch at 48 miles. Might be a good place for lunch but not sure what they have for real food. They definitely have bars, water, bathrooms, and such.

Then last stop would be a country store in Twin Mountain at about mile 56.

The last time i did the ride I discovered that the store at the end of Bear Notch burned down. Is it rebuild?

Not sure, but there are a few stores along 302 right after you take the left off Bear Notch. I'm planning Circle K as the refueling spot. Depending on who is there and what people want to do, I think there are a couple stores to the right also.

I saw that.

Not rebuilt to the best of my knowledge but Ken says there is a Circle K down the road and my research indicates there are a couple things just to the right of that intersection.

FYI - This will be a NO DROP ride. The group may split on the climb, but we will regroup at the top, descend and make our way to the next climb as a group.

Had a great ride yesterday. Love the views from the top. Headwind wasn't much fun though.

Had another great day in the White Mountains today with Dan. Can't get enough of them.
