Weather is looking good for our first snowshoe of the season. Check back for changes but tentatively we are a go for:

Wed. Jan. 5, 2011 at 5:30pm at my house. Bring your lights.

Time is flexible let me know what works for the group.

Please post up and let me know who is in.

My forced retirement is about over, and I look forward to wandering around the woods with y'all.

Excellent! Not as much snow as I thought there would be but it's a good start. Looking forward to Wed. See everyone then.

[b:3ec1a7d14e]Snowshoe Update:[/b:3ec1a7d14e] Well it's looking like snowshoeing is a bust for Wed, just not enough coverage out there. Heat wave destroyed most of the winfall. I searched and searched today but there just isn't enough contiguous snow and what snow we have is thin at best.

Anyone interested in a hike Wed night is still welcome to join me but snowshoes are not needed. Take note, there is some snow and some ice out there, so come prepared for mixed conditions.

There is something about the magic of having those pieces of plastic strapped to my feet that turns a mere walk in to woods into a great adventure.

I think I'm out until we get some more snow.

If Randy or I are not there by 5:30pm, it means that we decided to run on the road. Sounds like snow is coming this weekend to beef up the woods for next week.

How was your hike on Wed?

I'm spending my night out on Tuesday next week for a Telemark demo/lesson at Storrs hill.

Jesse,

You missed a hike full of adventure & camaraderie plus post hike chili & beer, it was great!

Next Wed is on, hopefully we will have enough snow for snowshoeing, otherwise we will be hiking again.

Bought some ice claws to slip on my boots like Rockboy has. I was sore for a couple days from hitting the hard ground. No longer.
