To all of you who are interested in the Newport running club here goes: The weather looks like it should be nice and clear tomorrow (Thursday) at 6:00pm. There is, however, a meet that will not be over until 7, however, for consistency sake we will still be meeting at the HS track at 6:00pm. We will have a 5-10 minute warm up jog to the Sugar River Trail, do our workout, and then have a 5-10 minute cool down jog back to the track where we will stretch. We will either be doing a "Move and Match" game / workout that Joel Pickering came up with or a specified interval workout. There will be handouts and team work. No matter how fast or slow, you are ALL invited! The more the merrier! Hope to see you all there. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, feel free to e-mail me at ryan.camire@yahoo.com

Interesting. This is the first I have heard about the Newport Running Club. I already have plans to run with another early afternoon so can't make it tomorrow but will keep in mind for future reference if you are going to meet every Thursday at 6pm?

Rockboy - Well, first, the reason you haven't heard of it is because this is the first meeting. It is something that has been talked about for some time now amongst a handful of us here in town. After doing Toughmudder, some of us want to keep it going and get together regularly. Who knows where it will go, but there are at least a handful of us that are committed to doing this on a regular Thursday night basis. Each thursday night we will be meeting at the HS track and we will go from there. Hope you can make it (if not this week, sometime).

Is this Thursday a work out on the track? Will you be doing trail runs also some weeks?

Well, this Thursday will be a 5-10 minute warmup jog to the Sugar River Trail then we will be either doing a Move and Match Fartlek workout on the trail, or doing a specific interval workout ont he trail. Maybe we can do both depending on who shows up. Also, yes, I am sure we will be doing both track workouts and trail runs. It is up to the group and what we all want to do week by week. Hopefully we will have a good mix of workouts week to week. Hope to see you there!

I do a Tue noon time run from Stetson's and a Thursday Afternoon trail run usually. I will definitely join on a Thursday sometime but not this week.

Thanks for posting up about the club Ryan. There is a group of us who in years past have meet weekly for group runs. Glad to see another group starting up. I hope this can be the online forum for that.

I like to run most of the WNHTRS races and I know Streak et al are running a marathon coming up soon.

Definitely interest in running here.

I like the name Pinnacle running club.....or team pinnacle.....There also may be a group run Friday mornings as well. And hoping for a group trail run on the weekend......

I can vouge for Ryan Camire, he's a good mudder.

Lot's of new biggest losers getting in to it to.....trying to get them over here on the site.

Ryan, once we get the dust settled, we can possibly post on the home page the weekly runs/rides, times, and places...

Then Pinnacle running gear.

PJ - sounds great! Looks like we got a lot of interest. I think there may be about 10 of us tonight, depending on the weather etc, but the interest seems very strong.
