Brian,

We will be riding Friday night if you are available and equipped with lights. Because I will be out late Friday I won't be able to make a Saturday morning ride.

thanks for the invite Bri - But we normally don't get up there until around 10.

I'll figure my way around the Pinnacle - thats usually the best way to figure things out anyway.

Check out this link for a good map. If it does not work you can get to it by going above to links then Town of Newport then walking tour/trail maps.

If it continues to rain most of the day I may not ride tonight and be there tomorrow.

Because of the weather today, Ryan and I are not going on our long adventure ride. I will be there tomorrow morning.

NICE - Now I got some action. Unfortunately I might be going to to a birthday party at a waterpark somewhere tomorrow  - so I may be riding Sunday morning instead. I will post up later tonight - Hopefully I will be there tomorrow though.

Unfortunately some personal stuff came up and I don't think I will be able to make the ride. Have to do it some other time.

Had a GREAT ride :!: - i think this was my route: started on boardwalk then worked my way to South Boundary - up snake alley - then started climbing barton woods - found like looked to be some new trails and rode them for awhile - kept climbing onto what I think was pine Link - then I think I got onto bear trap. Wound up at the top into a small field near a mountain summit and dirt roads (brown and yellow trailer in the small field I came out into and some large tree moving machinery nearby up one of the dirt roads) - rode around for awhile up there looking for another trail and couldn't find one so I strarted making my way back to the trail I had come out on and found a guy Brian (nice to meet you Bri and good riding with you!). He said the trail was at the top so I turned around and followed him. Climbed up to a few wooden planks and took a leftonto what I think is Skunk Hollow (great trail!). followed that down and we started working our way right and UP UP UP (RYAN I think we climbed your RYAN'S REVENGE - is that the trail that goes straight up the mountain w/ 2 rakes and a pick axe left there :?: ). At the top of that we went left and came down a super sweet downhill and finally came out on the trail you guys showed me last year (it was brand new at that time) down to Summer Street to North Boundary - Ridge - Lower Loop - Boardwalk - parking lot. All about 2 hours 15 minutes.

Great Ride! Hopefully you guys can show me around the Coit Mt. Trails cause I'm sure I'm doing them in the wrong direction (Ryan's Revenge  for one.)

Also - which trail has the wooden bridges linked up with the rocks?

Ride soon

Brian glad you had a fun ride, and glad you were able to hook up with Brian.

I'd sooner believe you climbed Coit Summit North (making a right in a field marked by a big feather) but I'm not a hundred percent on that, it almost sounds like you climbed Brake Burner. Brake Burner had a leaf rake at the bottom, a metal rake at the top, and a yellow handle pick axe closer to the top. I'd be surprised if you actually rode up Brake Burner thou, it would have been more like a hike a bike. I can say definitively that you did not climb Ryan's Revenge for 2 reasons: 1, you would not have been riding, and 2, Ryan's Revenge wasn't even there on Sat, I cut it with help from Ken on Sunday.

There is more than one trail with wooden bridges linked up with rocks but I'm guessing it was either Tower Circle (near the water towers) which has a long flat latter type bridge then goes up and over a big rock down the other side and back up on another big rock, or it was Roots which has a series of plank bridges linked with rocks, twisty single track, and roots.

Hope this helps. Brian should know where he took you, so where did you go Brian?

Thanks Ryan - it wasn't the Brian I met last time with you guys - A different Brian - too many Brians  .

And Yes it was Brake Burner that we climbed (saw the rakes and stuff)- yeah we walked every bit of that trail!!!! Is Ryan's Revenge steeper than BRake Burner?

Ryan's Revenge isn't a lot steeper, but it's more technical all the way down. Really steep drops with a turn at the bottom and no room for error and that kind of thing.

I successfully rode it yesterday with just one dab after cutting it, but I was so tired I didn't have any energy left to be scared or think about it. With a fully intact brain, one might think twice about riding it.

Despite what some might think you can actually cruise down most of Brake Burner, but there is no way you are doing that on Ryan's Revenge. I was astonished I made it through the upper section of Ryan's Revenge the first time intact.

I'd rather ride it than jump off a cliff without a parachute!!

Just kiddin'

I am not quite as accomplished a rider as Ryan, so I had to dab 3 times and there was one rocky 2-3 foot section that I basically crawled over. Other than that, its a fun (in an insane way), hair-razing ride.

Brian,

I enjoyed riding with you also. :D I was impressed with your abilities...I rode the trails again today, and felt much more comfortable. I brought my GPS so as not to get lost!!!! It worked! Hope to see you around again! :P
