32-18 Gary Fisher Rig 29" Singlespeed 2007.

I can see why singlespeeders get fit quick. The Pinnacle is a tough place for your first singlespeed ride, but it went well. The steeps were walked without attempt. The soft logging road was impossible, but most everything else was negotiable, and the 29 inch wheels rode over everything I used to swerve around. There are still many more things to ride over. Moderate uphill singletrack is where she shines and in the singletrack flat stuff she is great.

She is now used, and anyone who wants a ride can try her out. Time Pedals. A little tweak on the breaks and seat, and I will be happy. I may search for a 20 tooth rear for the Pinnacle. I will take her to The Turkey Burner.

Moody Park will be a speedfest, although I probably won't bring her to Cornish TF.

PS. Only in the first couple hundred yards did I search for gears, after that I was too tired to search. Lots of standing, it felt like rolling hills on a road bike. One last thing, stealth mode. You won't hear me coming, except for my heavy breathing.

PJ reminded me of the Incredible Hulk up on the Pinnacle today. I could not keep up with him in several sections. I was riding Bob Herin's Specialized Epic for the first time and road sections I had some problems with recently. Most likely head problems but the bike road them just the same. Got to see PJ fall and scratch his new bike for the first time. He used some bad words to describe the event. PJ will be real strong soon riding his new machine.

Whoo, a 29'er eeh. They usually run a 34/20 gear due to the 29" wheels. If you are using reg wheels and spacers with a single cog rather than a single speed freewheel I can give you a 20 tooth shimano cog.

I'm building up a new single speed, alas my old mongoose convert is gone, went to the recycle bin at the town dump. With the new frame, Mountain Cycle Rumble S-1, some of the old parts will live on. The only part yet to arrive is the Kona Project 2 "Rigid" fork due in by Thursday. Gonna run my usual tried and true 32/18.

I will take you up on that 20 tooth......I know I could use the extra teeth on the Pinnacle. My favorite part so far is the peace and quiet. You must run into more wildlife, as you can barely hear the bike swooshing through the singletrack.

I am assuming it will fit, as I have a eccentric BB, so I can move the crank around to accomodate another cog.

I'll bring the gear with me Saturday. Yea, you will sneak up on two and four legged animals, unless you bounce of every other tree like I tend to do. See ya Saturday.
