Hey fellas - Gonna be up in your neck of the woods this weekend. Not sure of the snow/riding possibilities? You still able to ride? if so - Newport at 9?

Has anyone been out the last few days to report on the current conditions? There will certainly be some ice, but I'm not sure how much snow there is in the woods.

I walk up to the lower part of the "old" Bear Trap every day at lunch. There's enough snow up there to make riding a challenge, but I think it's ridable with serious knobbies. The woods were plenty soggy prior to the snow so there will be patches of ice lurking beneath the snow in the usual wet spots. I might wear elbow pads, too. The ground is unforgiving.

I don't know if I can make it as Mrs. G might have plans for the morning. I might have a better shot later in the day. I'll know more later in the week.

I hoofed it up there last night(Thu) just prior to dark, the ground was frozen, plenty of ice to go around, patches of serious ice crystal stalagmites, and just enough snow and leaves to make the going dangerous.

As of this morning there is 3+ inches of snow covering the ground and it's coming down rapidly. PJ's comment is rate on.

My bike is away for the season unless we get a serious warm up, but my snowshoes & skis are out and the conditions are great for that.

 - conditions down here were beyond perfect until I woke up this morning. we have about 10-12 inches on the ground down here. at this point I'm not even sure if we are heading north.
