Here is the link if you have not signed up yet.

Hope we have a good Team Pinnacle turn out. Mark asked me to ride with him during last years event and I can say without reservation it was an amazing experience and a wonderful cause. We left at 7:30-8am and around 4hours and 40min later we finished the 100 mile trek with one stop at mile 60. It was a challenging ride in more ways than one. At the end of the ride it's all the food and drink you can handle and entertainment.

I am already registered under the "Mudnight Riders" and I am putting my money together right now. I have $70 so far, just need another $80

Do you guys want to start as early as possible? If heat is going to be an issue I would like to go ASAP. If not around 8 is ok with me. Need to get back around 12-1pm to get the good food. Eric may want to ride with us too.

It would be tough for me to make it any earlier than 8, if that means I end up starting without you guys, i'm ok with that.

We need to either start together or we'll need to wait somewhere and I don't thinking waiting on the course is much fun. I vote for starting as early as we can with Ryan.

Not sure why you would have to stop and wait for me?

We should plan to meet somewhere here in Newport and take as few cars as possible together up there, since parking will more than likely be difficult. My vote is for a 7am rendezvous in Newport somewhere.

Sounds good, 7am at the Fire Works store parking lot next to T-Bird gas station in Guild. I'll have my car and rack and be taking Eric along too. Two cars is a good idea. Maybe Ken can stop and pick up Ryan on the way to the meet spot. Ryan goal is to be out of pajamas by 6am dressed and packed.

Nobody said I had to be out of pajamas and dressed by 7, that's a deal breaker! I was planning on sleeping in Ken's van and getting ready when we get to Hanover.

Just kidding. Sounds like a plan.

Ken any chance you can pick me up?

Actually, Tosh is going to have the van for the day, so I was hoping we could go up in your car. We can use my bike rack if we need to.

Those of us that feel we need an extra early start are meeting at the High School at 5:30am--I have a four bike carrier on my Jeep. I'd think you boys should all show up in your jammies:) We're planning to start to ride at 6:30 am. I pray it's a cool, clear day--no wind, no rain, not too much sun...If we all put our order in now, maybe it will help. Julie.

I hate using my rack, and you have tons of room in the van but if we can't use it I'll have to get my rack out of the dungeon and we can take my car.

Actually Julie's plan to meet at the high school makes more sense given we all have to go that way anyhow. All except the part about meeting at 5:30am, I say we meet at the HS at 7am, and I will pick Ken up.

How does that work for everyone?

I'd think we'll catch the women by about mile 10 given their departure time  just kidding.

Definitely no van, Tosh doesn't want to be stuck in the house all day while we are having fun out on the road. Don't really blame her.

Like I said, we can use my rack if we need to. That way you don't have to drag yours out.

The other slight possibility would be to borrow my parents Suburban and we can all go up together. Not sure thats possible, but if you guys are interested, I could ask.

OK NHS at 7am. I am driving my car and have a three bike carrier but I only have room for another rider since the back seat will be full of riding stuff.

I''m glad to report all TP riders I'm aware of survived the ride.

It's fun to start late (8am) and just pass, pass, pass all day long. Team Green, the Green Freight Train, or just Those Guys Again (Dan, Ken, Erik Skarin, & Myself) are just some of the comments I heard as we were passing. We made out well I think completing the 100 mile course in 4:46:34 for an average of 20.5 mph. My highlights were:

[b:2ff2e7316a]+ cranking in a pace-line at over 25 mph for many miles,

+ descending from the mountains,

+ chasing down a recumbent bike at over 35 mph (we stopped shortly after for a second and we never saw this guy again, he was really flying),

+ having Dan the Cycling Machine bring the group home the last 25 miles nearly single handedly,

+ seeing the look on Erik & Julie's face after completing their first 100 miler,

+ the great number of friendly participants,

+ a really awesome day for riding,

+and the really great group of volunteers that made it all happen.[/b:2ff2e7316a]

Definitely a must do on your yearly list of events.

My highlight of the day was the whole day. Being able to do something to honor my dad, Kenneth Paul Wiley Sr, who died of Testicular cancer at the age of 34 meant a lot to me.

Thanks to everyone who rode and helped me out.

I should add, although it goes without saying, the best part was having fun with friends while raising money for cancer research.

Team Pinnacle did a great job of helping out "The Mudnight Riders" surpass their team membership and fund raising goal for this years Prouty. There were eight TP riders this year, Ryan, Ken, Eric, Paul, Janet, Julie, Sandy and me. In total we raised $6,220.00. I am very proud to have been part of the team, thanks to everyone who helped make it possible. I dedicated my ride this year to a good friend Matt Bonaccorsi, who as a young man with a wife and child died of leukemia. Matt took me on my first New Hampshire mountain bike ride. We loaded up his pickup with our bikes and went to the end of the Cat Hole road in Claremont and road across the mountain down into North Newport. This was a big ride back in the late 80's with no helmet and really not much of a trail or road either. On top of that mountain we found mosquitoes as big as toaster ovens and they loved it when we stopped to move fallen trees that were blocking our advance. The bike connection with Matt and this years ride with the TP crew were good fits. I think all of us on TP had individual memories and motivations that helped us go longer or faster than we thought possible. For me that's what this ride is all about. Living and pushing on through as a team.

It is great to hear that everyone enjoyed the Prouty this year. Tina, Nick, Lilly, and I were also out there ... riding the 25 miler together for the first time. There were a number of times I recalled some of my earlier 100 mile adventures (I did the event for the first time in 1991).

I concur with the sentiment expressed by others in the forum ... the most rewarding aspect of doing the ride is in support of those who have battled cancer.

I am sure that I speak on Marsha Norris' behalf (wife of Jack Milewski, who fought a long battle against cancer before passing away two weeks after the Prouty in 2004) when I both welcome and thank members of Team Pinnacle for their joining forces with the Mudnight Riders this year. Mark Gurney, Andrew Walters, and I were planning to ride the 100 mile event with Jack in 2004, with him being the stoker on a tandem ... but he had to check into the hospital two days before the event that year. He was very proud of the *most team members* award that the Mudnight Riders received in 2004 for having 51 members.

Phew! So, I survived both my 50th birthday and my first century ride! I think that I'm feeling far more emotional after the fact than I did on Saturday! I can't believe the feelings of comradery and friendship that came out of both the training and participation in the event. Ramon Leiva did some training with us, and had expected to ride with us, but had some unexpected health problems. Ramon didn't sign up, but showed up at NMHS and rode to the turn off for the 25 miles with us. Talk about team support! What a guy! Sandy, Paul, Janet, Ramon & I started at 7:00am. What perfect weather for a long ride like that! It was cool and a little foggy, but we quickly warmed up when we got to Mount Cube. And why was I worried about that part of the ride? It was hardly a mountain in my world! I was very touched by the number of people that commented on the picture of my Mom that I put on both the back (to push me along) and front (to pull me up those last few hills) of my bike. Sandy and I came in at just over 6:06 (Sandy's computer) and 6:13 (my computer). Of course that's riding time--our time was 7:10 with stops. I'm hearing that we did pretty well for our first time. Everyone's advice served me well--I was well hydrated (every 15 minutes), and ate small amounts every chance I got, but at least every 30 minutes. The day couldn't have been more perfect weather-wise! The first 80 miles zipped right along--the shocker was those last two really steep hills! OUCH! Man, my thighs were on fire! But, alas--we did it! I can't wait for next year! I'll try to post the picture we took just after we finished...
Julie.
