Biomechanical research reveals a surprising key to the survival of our species: Humans are built to outrun nearly every other animal on the planet over long distances.

Very interesting article.

I have seen specials and articles on this for years, it's not new but it is interesting.

I have heard for years humans simply ran down their prey, we are not the fastest species but we are known to be well conditioned to endurance. I have also seen many articles, stories really of native americans who would run hundreds of miles a week to deliver messages. Sometimes repeating 50-100 mile days over and over again. Those are mostly undocumented but what about the guy that ran 50 marathons in 50 days (Sam Thompson), and a Buddy of his who ran 350 miles in 3 days (Dean Karnazes) and the many more.

It's truly amazing what humans are capable of.
