I'll definitely try to make the 18th, which I'll arrive straight from work. Do you have directions to Jim's house?

I'll try to make the 11th in Ascutney as well. I'd like to check out those trails. Perhaps we could hook up in Newport to go over?

Jim's House is located here: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=510+East+Rd,+Cornish,+NH+03745,+USA&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&resnum=1&ct=title.

His house is on the 120 side of East Rd and is the 2nd to last house before Mace Rd I believe. Marker is not quite right his house is brown and about half way between Mace & Tiff Rds and he has a circular downhill sloping driveway in front.

As far as the 11th or the 18th I plan to ride both dates so anyone who wants to follow me from Newport is welcome. I can swing by the high school or another location and anyone interested can follow me from there. Let me know otherwise I won't swing by the high school.

Well yesterdays ride was not for the faint of heart, but the trails were awesome. I had heard of this trail building master from Brownsville, VT for years and yesterday I finally got to meet him and some of his work.

I was a little tired yesterday so it's hard to tell but I think the STAB (http://www.stabvt.org/) trails are some of the best I've rode. The combination of climbing and technical riding make for quite a challenge.

18 riders in our group, plus several others in the woods.

Solstice Ride is a go and by the sounds of it we should have a good field of riders.

I agree with Ryan, those are some great trails and in our two to three hour ride I don't think we covered all of them.

If you haven't already been over there, you have to check them out.

Some of the trails remind me of mule trails traversing the sides of the Grand Canyon (narrow) with plenty of switch-backs. It has many combinations similar Vance's Backlash on Coit and Grenvilles Eastside. Tons of ledge which takes some technical skill to ride, several bridges and constant up and down. There were several long climbs with switch-backs and downhill to match.

Dana and Ryan, if we don't see each other tomorrow night for the Tuesday trail run, let's plan on carpooling over to Cornish Wed. for the Soltice ride. N.

Sounds good Nathan.

I'm going to do some short light running tommorrow on my own so I won't be there for the Pinnacle run.

Where would you like to meet? We need to leave here by around 4:15pm to get over there by 5pm on Wed. Last I knew Dana was going straight there from work. So it may be just the two of us unless there are any other takers???

This was a great ride with fifteen riders, including Nathan, Ryan and I. We cut some of the fence trails a little short at the end due to what could have been thunderstorms, but it ended up being just rain in the last several miles.

I think Ryan said we were well over 30 miles, which we covered in about four hours. Lots of double track with significant climbs and long fast downhill. The last downhill was over some pretty rough boulders and washout which I was first to bottom and survived.

We finished up in the dark climbing East Hill in Cornish which seemed to go on forever considering my chain kept skipping a beat on every turn for the last seven miles or so. I should have taken some of Ryan's chain oil when he offered it at the start.

I thought the ride would take a toll on me, but I was able to do an hour trail run the next day, so I feel good. Hopefully we can try to make the entire fence line another time this summer.

The ride beat me up pretty good, but I've bounced back pretty quick much to my surprise. Did a flat 6 mile road run today and felt pretty good.

Dana was riding better than I can remember and I found myself in the back of the pack for the last 10 miles. Never seen such a large group complete this ride so fast and without mechanicals.

I WILL be better prepared next time and I will also be despensing with at least 20 lbs from my pack.
