Hero tail wind for the first 55 miles. Averaged about 21.5 mph before turning into the wind. 15-20 mph head wind on the return trip. Constant West / North West brutal head wind for ~35 miles! Aerobars helped. Time is ride time. Total time was about 30 minutes longer and included 3 quick am bathroom breaks, one extended refueling stop at 58 miles, and 1 mental health stop at about 88 miles. It doesn't get much flatter, with exception of the Escarpment (93 & Lewiston Rd hills). After 20+ miles of head wind thou, you start begging for a hill, any hill (that will block the wind). |
