fattireb,

According to the Claremont Cycle Depot & Bike Club website, the date for that weekend is Sat & Sun July 8th & 9th (Downhill, Cross Country respectively). You can find some basic info for that race and weekend at the following location: http://www.claremontcycle.com/club/clubnews.htm.

we know the cross country route by heart and will be happy to take you on it. it is a fast, not real technical race. As for the downhill, I have only been to watch, but believe it to be a short fun run......not many enter.

They usually have 2 downhill courses: an easy, fast, longer course and a shorter, more advanced course that includes some 2-6 foot drops.

Thanks guys! I'm hoping to be up there that weekend to do both races.

I'm coming up next weekend - 13th & 14th hopefully will be able to get out. I'll post more when I know more.

Ryan - Are these DH runs behind Claremont Middle School? Do you know anything about them - like how to get to them and are they maintained and all?

Thanks B

Yes, there is the middle school and next door is the Tech center, Arrow ski area is a small community ski area behind the Tech center, that is where the downhill is held. Both courses start and finish in the same place, start being if you are looking up the mountain just left of the ski lift you will see a trail that goes straight up the mountain follow that trail all the way up till it starts to open up and get ledgy, that is approximately where the start was the last time I was there. Both courses start down the same trail I described going up, the easy course swings riders left onto some double track and wonders around through a variety of double track to wide open trails and then swings back riders right across the top of the field you see from the base lodge, the expert course swings riders right into I think some single track, crosses a couple of double track trails then hits some steeps in the woods with some drops, and then comes out into the center trail (viewed from the base lodge) and merges with the easy course where the middle trail opens up into the main base area, both courses finish near the base lodge.

This is what the course was 2 years ago when I saw it last, don't know if it's the same now or not. Also don't know if the downhills have been cleaned up or maintained so there is no telling what you will find.

I just remembered I talked with a downhiller from VT last year and he said him and some others had been at Arrow cutting a bunch of new stuff, so I really don't know what the downhill course will be, chances are it will be something entirely new.

I have some news for Team Pinnacle racers about Moody thou, I was talking to one of the race promoters last week and it sounds very likely the course will be run in reverse this year, and possibly some other surprises, so don't count on the course being the same old familiar one people have gotten used to. Who knows what the course will be but I'd lean towards it being different.

Hope this helps Bri.

Thanks Ryan. I went up there once before to look for these trails and couldn't find them. Now I have an idea what I'm looking for. Unfortunately I don't think I will be up there prior to the weekend of the races.

see ya then!
