Anyone heard about "Highland Mountain Bike Park" in Northfield, NH. It is due to open this summer at the site of the old "Highland Ski Area". Looks like it is going to be a real Downhillers heaven.

Check it out: http://www.highlandmountain.com/.

It is definately geared towards free riding. The only time I ride like that is by accident.

I agree, if you are a free rider with a heavy bike and lots of travel you'd probably like what they're offering: lift accessed free ride park.

My first observation was I thought the place was a little too contrived, I thought you could have done a lot of what I saw on the website with natural elements (i.e. rocks, dirt ramps, and cliff drops). It also appeared to me that all the ramps where very wide, a variety of ramp widths from really narrow to wide I think might be better, but what do I know, I'm not a free rider. I've seen some of the stuff they're doing out west on RSN thou, and that stuff crushes anything I saw on the website but perhaps a little more technical and dangerous than most free riders are looking for.

I think if you have a downhill bike with lots of travel and the brass to go along with it you might like the Highlands. I would like to go check it out once when they open just to see what it is all about.

If the Henniker boys ride tonight I'll ask if they have any info. Nathan

I'm guessing, HMP is about 1.5 hours from Claremont. I know where Northfield, NH is but not where the old ski area is. There is a Highland Mountain Road near exit 19 of I-93 so I'm guessing HMP is near there.

I just emailed them inquiring about directions, prices, and opening date. If I get a response back I'll post it here.

The following is my questions to HMP and their response:

[quote:01eb573919][i:01eb573919]Any idea on an opening date and prices? Team Pinnacle might have enough interest for a group of us to come. Most of us aren't free riders but we are curious as to what you have to offer.

The website will be updated prior to opening. Shooting to open by the end of June, day pass = $35 and season pass is $299. This year will cater to the lift access riding but long term goals include all styles of riding.

Hope you can make it!

Mark
