Big win for me, my first solo. This race, the Bike for Bovines was on my home turf in Keene. I had done the course 3 times that week, so I was confident. We started with mass start - all the sports together. The race course starts with a climb that extends for nearly 2 miles, which I got to the top first, with no one in sight behind me. After the first short downhill followed by another ascent of about 1.5 miles, I could see two guys closing in on me, they caught me just before the fire tower which then turns to a singletrack descent. With both of these guys in front of me, one of which was in the 40-49 class I never saw again. The other rider in the 20-29 class, I was able to catch, pass, but then an end over end crash cost me that spot. With blood leaking from my knee I got back on and was able to keep him in sight but never catch him. With no one else behind me I was confident in winning my class, but I wanted to catch the rider in front of me. I was in the highest gear on my bike, the last two miles like a TT I was going 25-30 mph and finished 15 seconds back of him. 3rd overall in sport 1st in my class Loren was 1st in the Sport Women 35+ Brandon Baker 4th Expert 20-29
