A couple days ago Mark and I were riding the Pinnacle and came upon two motorcycles climbing up the new trail. I mentioned to them that it was a bike trail and one of them acknowledged he understood. We'll all have to keep a lookout for motorcycles on our trails and if it becomes a problem maybe we'll have to get an ordinance adopted. It would take no time at all for them to tear apart all the hard work put into the trails. I recommend that if any of us see a motorcycle up there that an effort be made to talk to them and educated him/her on the trails they need to avoid. Getting their registration tag number would be a good idea too.

There is no problem with them on the class VI road or logging trails but the tight single track hiking and mountain bike trails need to be off limits to them.

I agree Dan.

I think some signagee indicating no motorized vehicals on the single track could be helpful to that end (i.e. no snowmobiles, motocross, 4 wheelers, or otherwise). Only need to place the signs at any double track entrance to single track, granted that is a lot of spots. I think signage, rules and some education would go a long ways but like Dan said if that is ignored and it becomes a real problem, we could need an ordinance to enforce the rules. Let's hope not.

Maybe we could emphasis that we are trying to encourage fitness in way of moving your body, not having your body be moved by motorized means within the Town Forest.
I don't know what recourse we have on any of the Johnson, Avery or other conservation easement lands.
How would an ordinanace be enacted to maintain the integrity of the trails without being elitist?
