I went for a little walk Sunday morning to check out the trail conditions after the 8 inches of rain received Saturday. I thought we may be in trouble after having to take a detour because downtown Newport was completely flooded. But to my suprise the trails were in real good shape. With the exception of lower Roots, everything was solid and quite ridable. If Roots does not recover we will just us Forest Trail to get from Tower Circle to Lower Loop. The Plummet took a little bit of a hit, but nothing that we can't fix up easy enough. I fully marked the course while I was out there and it is a little different than the original layout. Tread lightly through Roots the next few days and you should be able to enjoy the loop.

Ken & I went for a ride Sunday. We did not follow the course per say but we did hit a lot of it. Everything seemed surprisingly firm, wet but not muddy, at least not yet. There were huge pools of standing water in the typical muddy spots, however, the ground was very firm under the water. No telling what time will do, especially if some of that water has a chance to sink in. We did not ride lower Roots, but upper Roots via the cut through was fine. We also did not ride the plumet but as Brian said it does appear to have some additional washout.

Mostly there was just a lot of running water, rivers where I have never seen water before, and raging rivers where there was only a trickle before. In those areas, you'll never see mud, anything light enough to stay on the surface gets washed away.

Ditto to the boys...........

All t hat good news about the trails is true. However she still needs tons of work and clearing, facilitating runoff, ect. That being said the trail run scheduled for Saturday will follow the same course as the Foliage 400, so we can spend our valuable time working on one loop only. That way I won't have to explain different colored arrows, ect. We may even get some breaking in of some of the new stuff, by foot.

See you out there.
