Well, it seems like I'm going to be more or less sidelined for a while. Last year's swimming problems uncovered some discouraging news about my right shoulder; namely, I've worn away almost all of the cartilage in the back of my shoulder joint. Its something I've been dealing with in one form or another since I was a teenager, but things have started to go downhill pretty quickly. As a result I've lost a good deal of my range of motion as well as strength In that shoulder( I thought I was swimming in circles and I probably was!), and bike rides of more than an hour really make my shoulder scream as well, even using aerobars. Sucks when you even have a hard time picking up your 11-month old, too. Some major surgery is in the future to try and buy me time so I don't have to have a complete shoulder replacement done yet. That is inevitable but at 35 I'm a little young to have that done yet. I think I'll tough out Eastman and New London and have the surgery in the fall some time, but short road rides are about all I'll be doing this year. I'll just have to take it out on my spinning classes in the morning.

I guess its time I come back to spinning again. The flu and pink eye pretty much made me train on my own, running about 15 miles a week, using my new bowflex and riding on my rollers at home. I haven't had a hard ride in atleast 3 weeks.

Thats too bad to hear about your shoulder problems. I guess I won't see you out on the Tri courses this year.

Lesson learned. If you haven't been to the 5:15am spinning class in over a month, call ahead to make sure they are still on the same day when you decide to go back.

Happy to see they changed from TR to MWF though. Need more spinning time since the season is getting closer.
