It never ceases to amaze me how you can do a 20 mile loop that is virtually a circle and nearly always be riding into a NASTY HEAD WIND

It's official, I'm just about ready to get off the road and into the woods where there is nearly never a head wind! Thankfully good weather and the much anticipated arrival of my fully refurbished mountain mule are right on schedule with the trails.

Soon, very soon... who's with me on welcoming another glorious mountain biking season?

I did the Lear Hill Loop today starting on 11 and proceeding to 103 to Brook Rd etc around 4-5pm. I was so agravated with the wind I ended up going for a run afterwards.

In retrospect I should have turned around after a mile and did the loop in the other direction, perhaps next time.

Without the wind yesterday I would have been an easy 2-3 mph faster with no additional effort.

If you are doing the Springfield Loop the regular way the road on your left before the interstate is Stoney Brook. It comes into 114 by the lumberyard. I cuts out Springfield. So maybe it should not be called the Springfield Loop. 26 miles according to Mark.

Ah! I'll have to try that out some day. How is the pavement on Stony Brook?
