I was able to ski much of the Pinnacle trail system over the weekend thanks to the Friday snow storm. Snow was shallow and I hit many rocks, but my old skis didn't care. The deer and cyote love Ryan's new trail on Coit, it makes getting around easier for them as well.
Don't forget to get out and do some crosstraining over the winter - running, skiing, snowshoeing even hiking and winter camping. The Town Forest being so close to downtown and ample parking is a huge asset to local outdoor junkies. I only ran into three people and a very happy dog and most of the trails were blank sheets of white, boy was I happy to mark them up.
News Release; the S. Crowell chimney fell into the cellar hole in two chunks below Coit. Also there was no sign of 4-wheeler or snow machine on the trails.
So spin indoors if you must, but don't forget to lay tread this winter on the Pinnacle.
:D See you this spring,

I just got some snowshoes, can't wait for a little more snow to break them in.

Today was my 3rd day on the ski slopes. The skiing is more like mid to late January skiing then the 2nd week of Dec., I love it.

Same here, as soon as the snow is a little deeper the snowshoes will be coming out. Maybe we can organize some evening treks? A $10 headlamp from wal-mart and your ready to go.

Group snowshoeing night or day sounds like a great idea to me. I got just the right light for the job.

Full moon is coming up, with the snow relfection you may not need a headlamp.

Nathan is rate on. Last night the woods where eerily lit up. It was unusually bright out there. I was staring out my window before bed thinking the bright light in the sky is really on tonight.
