"Gentlemen we can rebuild him, we have the technology, we have the capability to make the worlds first bionic man, Dan O'Neill is that man, better than he was before, better, stronger, faster...."

Well I'm not sure who the "Gentlemen" or the "we" are, but who every they are, they replaced our beloved Dan with the new and improved "O'Neill The Cycling Machine", lighter, better, stronger, faster.

Dan and I went for a MTB ride this morning in preparation for his Route 66 race next weekend. After Dan's blown out front fork while attempting to summit the Pinnacle from the high school, we resumed our assault with Dan's second bike from the Pine Tree Castings lot via Lafountain Road. By the time we reached Pine Link, despite being a difficult climb on it's own, the quicksand conditions had pretty much sucked me dry, but not Dan. He waited patiently at the top for me, like it was a walk in the park. After poking down both lungs with a stick and regaining semi-consciousness I was ready again and we resumed the ride: Bear Trap, to Skunk Hollow, to... the new Coit Summit North trail. It didn't take long for Dan despite not knowing the trail to assume the lead and pull my 2 ton ass up the mountain. Of Course the descent was worth the climb.

In summary:
- Dan 2.0, lighter, better, stronger, and faster than before.
- Dan and I claim first ascent rights on the new Coit Summit North trail.

p.s. the first quote is a paraphrase from the intro to the TV series the Six Million Dollar man

p.s.s Thank you Brian for blowing some of the trails, it didn't go unnoticed

p.s.s.s the Outback is a mess, logging, trees, debris, a mess, lots of work to get it back into shape.

I feel like I am being set up guys.

Keeping with the 6 million $ man theme remember his car Kit was the real star. Maybe it was that tune up at Claremont Cycle sport that has made all the difference. When the bike starts to talk I'll let you know.

Wouldn't that be fun. MTB bike says, good morning Dan, ready for a ride? Today I am going to take you up and down Coit Mountain faster than ever before. I want you to hang on tight and watch out for a couple of those trick rocks Ryan has placed in our path. I will run on Fail Safe mode which means you can't make a mistake. If you screw-up I'll automatically correct and send you on your proper path.

I want one of those bikes.

PJ could ride then even with a bad ankle

Dan,

I think you're confusing Knight Rider with the Six Million Dollar Man, in my recollection he ran or was driven most places he needed to go.

When you put your order in for the "Kit Bike", let me know, I'll take one too. Second thought, that might take all the fun out of techincal riding, but I wouldn't mind borrowing yours for a test ride so long as you let Kit know I'm not a hostile.

It's not a set up. You are much improved this year, I'm not the first to notice and I'm sure I won't be the last.

I'm scared to enter the woods. If Steve Austin climb up my butt I can take it, but not Kit, that swanky talking tranny creeps me out. Lindsey Wagner, now that would be O.K. too!
Ryan, I'm not sure what you're calling the North Coit Trail, but I'd like to suggest naming one of your hard earned trails for some of the Black farmers who had the balls to settle that area. If I recall two of them are recorded in the 1800's town record book. One was a real cut up, a well known personality in town.
Brain, the trails clearing looks great. Ryan the front Coit Trail rides sweet, ditto for the new section that drops off the back side.

Nathan,

Coit Summit North starts on the new Skunk Hollow section near the clearing where Skunk Hollow meets the Outback. The trail heads up the mountain from there and runs seamlessly into Coit Summit South at the highest point on the mountain.

FYI, most of Coit Summit South, Coit Crossover, Fall Line, and Boulder Cross are off limits currently at the land owners request.

I was Witness to the Cycling Machine on Saturday.....We did the Team Pinnacle Time Trial, Check it out under Local Loops. a 15 mile road run with hills, turns, flats..... Mike Hanscom (1st ride with the bunch) Dan and I started at Junction of 114 and tried to race to high School. Mike started with a 2 minute advantage, then I took off, and Dan started 1 minute behind me. We all met up on Loverin Hill, where Dan passed both Mike and I like we were standing still. I could barely see Dan the rest of the way as we took the out and back loop through the covered bridge. I put up my new best time of the year,( a sad 47:06 ) while Dan covered the 15 miles in a guestimated 43:00 flat. I can see the difference 30 pounds makes on a hill.....Thanks Mike for trying out our new format for you first ride with us.....

Wow! Dan and I tried to break the Time Trial record as a Team. We didn't. He is certainly fit. He scooped up the Loverin in 3:58. Had to wait for me, and probably lost some time regrouping. The wind wasn't as helpful as first thought, but our team time was somewhere around 41 flat. The last 1/2 mile Dan rode me off his wheel and I came home gimpy. Don't know how the heck he did that time trial in 39 and change. I am truly impressed.
